Tailored to suit your needs
Each HUF House is individually designed and customized to meet your requirements.
State-of-the-Art
The Bauhaus philosophy of open-plan floor layouts and the intense use of high performance glazing delivers a unique living experience. Based on an engineered and pre-manufactured post and beam structure, our houses provide the highest quality levels in terms of construction and technology on the market.
The most significant feature of a HUF House is the load-bearing post and beam structure made of glue laminated Scandinavian spruce which comes from controlled foresting. This high quality engineered timber does not warp and delivers remarkable stability and durability.
A HUF house is extremely well insulated and sealed for maximum wind tightness. The construction is rock solid, using only proven and extremely durable materials. HUF house uses concrete panels for the ceiling, thus offering an optimal level of sound insulation, which together with our floating concrete screeds on each floor, is a feature that has no competition in the current market. Additionally, we use interlocking concrete roof tiles which provide safety and durability, also quite a unique feature in the U S market.
Highly sustainable
All HUF houses utilize the most advanced, ecologically-friendly technology. We recommend geo-thermal heating systems which operate on low temperature, water-based underfloor heating, which can also be used for cooling. Especially in combination with concrete as heat storage, these systems provide great comfort at lowest possible energy costs. The heating system operates in conjunction with high-efficiency solar panels for the hot water supply and photovoltaic panels, which generate most of the energy the house requires. Depending on local conditions and the requested client specifications, the houses can be totally self-contained or even deliver a surplus in their energy balance.
And, last but not least, being primarily made of wood, each HUF house stores several tons of carbon dioxide within its structure. For more information visit the HUF HAUS web site
